At the still point of the turning world….

The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ) is the largest event of its kind in the world - presenting contemporary work in a variety of performance design disciplines and genres. Every four years, since it’s establishment in 1967, the Prague Quadrennial has presented work from more then 70 countries, from five continents, in individual countries' expositions in three competitive sections – the section of countries and regions, section of theatre architecture and student section. http://www.pq.cz/en

ST PAUL St Gallery and AUT University are proud to announce that the Commissioner for the New Zealand exhibitions at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ11) is Sue Gallagher, Head of Postgraduate in the School of Art Design, and Programme Leader (Acting) for the new Master of Performance and Media Arts, beginning at AUT University in 2011.

In preparation for the 2011 Prague Quadrennial the NZ Commissioner Sue Gallagher working in collaboration with Tracey Collins (NZ National Co-Curator), Stuart Foster (NZ Student Curator), and Amanda Yates (NZ Architecture Curator), and Dorita Hannah (Architecture Commissioner for PQ) would like to announce a two-week programme of performance events, workshops, panel sessions, and exhibition:

LIVE. REPEAT. PLAYBACK.

LIVE. REPEAT. PLAYBACK. exhibition/performance events will take place from 12-28 August at St Paul St Gallery, AUT University and will explore the emerging paradigms of performance and media arts through critical enquiry and innovative performative practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.

LIVE. REPEAT. PLAYBACK. aims to generate discussion, ideas, and directions for the three New Zealand Exhibitions: National, Student and Theatre Architecture, participating at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial: International Exhibition of Performance Design and Space (PQ11).


CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

NATIONAL SECTION: expressions of interest from NZ artists and designers working in performance and related fields, to participate in a series of designers’ workshops to develop material for the NZ exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial.

STUDENT SECTION: proposals for the LIVE REPEAT PLAYBACK exhibition from graduating year and postgraduate students working in performance and related fields.

THEATRE ARCHITECTURE SECTION: Performing Space in Oceania NZ. Architects, designers or creative practitioners working in theatre architecture, performance and event design fields are invited to submit projects (built or unbuilt / performed or proposed) for the exhibition and performance event LIVE. REPEAT. PLAYBACK.
